Smith & Williamson: They offer graduate trainee programmes in assurance & business services, corporate tax, private client tax services and investment management. You’ll have exposure to a wide range of sectors from the outset. They look for people who can respond effectively to client needs and foster strong relationships.

Within the Investment Management area, they will support you while you study for the Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) and Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI) Masters in Wealth Management. You’ll gain experience through a rotation programme, which includes placements in investment settlement operations, middle office, compliance, private banking and fund administration departments.

You’ll then have the opportunity to move to the front office, where you’ll spend 6-10 weeks at a time on a variety of different desks. Within The Private Client Tax area you will responsibility for your own clients from the outset, as well as assisting senior staff on assignments.

You will also have full study support for your Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) or Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and Chartered Taxation Adviser (CTA) professional qualifications. In Corporate Tax by the second year you will be managing your own clients and may be able to take up opportunities for secondments across the firm. Within Assurance and Business Services you will be working directly with managing and financial directors, responsible for checking that numbers stack up with fact.
