White & Case: They recruit 25-30 trainees each year. From day one you’ll work alongside colleagues from around the world, and deal with many of their 38 global offices across five continents. One of your first decisions will be to choose where to go for your overseas seat – as they guarantee one for 6 months duration. New York? Hong Kong? Beijing? Most of the work is cross-border. You’ll work through four six-month seats, one of which will be Finance and one overseas. To gain contentious experience, you can choose a seat in Dispute Resolution, Employment and Benefits, IP, or Construction and Engineering or join the Litigation Training Programme. Wherever possible, they take into account your personal preferences when finalising your seat rotation. There are a choice of 14 seats in total including, Banking & capital Markets, Construction & Engineering, Dispute Resolution, Employment, Energy & Infrastructure, Environmental, IP and Technology, M&A, Private Equity, Real Estate, Regulatory and Tax. They pay your GDC and LPC fees and a maintenance grant.
