AWE – higher and degree Apprenticeships
AWE. They play a crucial role in national defence, and are a centre of scientific and technological excellence, with some of the most advanced research, design and production facilities in the world. They offer a host of different apprenticeships. In terms of level 4-6, they offer:
- Nuclear Engineering – level 6 – you will work towards a Bachelors (Honours) degree qualification (at level 6), accredited by the constituent bodies of the Engineering / Science Council
- Electrical Engineering – level 4 – you will work towards a HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Technical certificate)
- Control and Instrumentation – level 4 -you will work towards a HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Technical certificate)
- Electronics – level 4 you will work towards a HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Technical certificate)
- Precision Machining -level 4 – you will work towards a HNC in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering (Technical certificate)
They atre all 4 years in length.
Entry requirements for level 6 schemes
- Typically grade C or above in at least five GCSE’s including English, Maths and a Science subject
- Typically candidates will hold a minimum of 240 UCAS points or existing relevant Level 3 qualifications
Entry requirementsfor level 4 schemes
> 2 A levels (preferred) or 5 GCSEs at C (or equivalent) and above, 2 of which must be Math & English.
> Ideal if you have previously achieved a level 3 BTEC.
