  • Civil Service (GES): The Government Economic Service runs summer placements between 6-12 weeks aimed at economic students. Learn more about The Civil Service assessment process and online tests HERE.
  • Civil Service Faststream Diversity Programme: For those students of ethnic minority or under represented socio economic backgrounds. 6-9 week programme. Learn more about The Civil Service assessment process and online tests HERE.
  • Defence Science & Technology Laboratory (DSTL): 8-12 weeks in length. DSTL maximise the impact of science and technology for UK defence and security.
  • Defence Engineering & Science Group (DESG) Student sponsorship scheme. This includes paid summer placements with MOD establishments and a bursary of £1500 pa while you study. They also run the DTUS  - an undergraduate scheme to explore career opportunities at the MOD. 
  • Foreign & Commonwealth Office – they are targeting female undergraduates, students studying ‘hard’ languages (e.g. Arabic, mandarin, Japanese, Russian etc) or those reading economics for their Future Talent Scheme
  • GCHQ – 9-12 week placements for students studying technology-related or maths degrees.  They also offer a number of technology schemes for people who are studying relevant degree subjects such as Computer Science, Electronics, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Assurance, Information Security, Physics, Software Engineering or Telecommunications.
  • HM Revenue & Customs. 8 week summer programme. Practice tailored psychometric tests similar to the ones used by HMRC HERE. 
  • International Labour Organisation – Tripartite United Nations Agency. 3-6 months. 
  • Interpol (2-11 months)
  • Met Office. There are a range of placement opportunities to suit different skills and interests. Science and Forecasting are two of those, but there are also have a variety of opportunities in other business areas such as Marketing, Finance, HR, Technology and Information Services and many more.
  • Teach First. They offer 2 opportunities Teach First Brand Managers and their Insight Programme. For the brand manager role, Teach First are looking for ambitious, confident, and committed individuals to support their team of recruiters on campus. You will help raise awareness of the charity on campus and promote the opportunities Teach First offer. If you are passionate about addressing educational inequality, have great communication skills and strong levels of initiative – this could be the perfect role for you.  For the Insight Programme, they are looking for enthusiastic, committed and creative individuals who want to gain an insight into the Teach First Leadership Development Programme, develop employability skills and inspire young people studying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) subjects. Your placement will combine personal development with days in one of their partner primary or secondary schools. Applications for Insight are currently closed. If you are in your penultimate year at university you can apply for their two year Leadership Development Programme and defer your place.
  • UNESCO. 1-4 months at UNESCO headquarters in Paris and field offices. The positions are unpaid. Depending on your qualifications, these internships relate either to the organisations strategic activities or to administrative or technical functions. Students from a wide range of disciplines can apply. Also available to graduates.
