Be aware that the many engineering firms require you to complete online tests. You have to pass these before they even look at your application. Its therefore critical that you practice before hand. You will greatly increase your chances of success. Obtain practice papers HERE

  • 3M. They offer 12 month placements in business, engineering and science. Business placement students  will work in one of our many support functions and are given real responsibility from day one. Science placements include training on instrumentation, systems, processes and procedures
  • Accenture – technology Solutions (12 months)
  • Alcatel Lucent
  • Airbus (6-12 months).Based in Bristol or N Wales. 
  • Apple. (6-12 months). Various internships throughout Europe. 
  • ARM holdings (potential for engineering scholarship depending on university)
  • Atos (12 months). Areas offering internships include system integration, HR, managed services, managment (healthcare) and finance. 
  • Bank Of America Merrill Lynch - technology (6-12 months)
  • BBC. 12 month Cyber Security Undergraduate scheme. You need to be studying an Information Security or Technology based degree. Placements are in Salford or London. 
  • British Airways (12 months). A wide range of placement opportunities including operations. 
  • BT (11 months): Placements available in software engineering. Locations include Belfast, Glasgow, Cardiff, Sheffield and Ipswich.
  • Cambridge Consultants.  full year placements for students studying technical degrees. They are a world-class supplier of innovative product development engineering and technology consulting. Most of their projects deliver protoype hardware or software. You will gain invaluable hands-on experience by working alongside staff on real projects
  • CapGemini. Technology placements of 10-11 months. 
  • CDC. CDC develops technology solutions for clients problems. They offer 12 month industrial placements in business, finance and technical roles, usually starting between July - September. They accept students studying any discipline. 
  • CERN: Technical Student Programme aimed at engineering, applied physics or computing students, from 4-12 months. Also other administrative internships available. 
  • Citi: (6-12 months) in Operations. 
  • Cisco (3-12 months)
  • Credit Suisse: (6 or 12 months) in IT within areas such as Application Architecture & Development, IT Operations, Quality Management & Testing, or system Architecture & Engineering. 
  • CSC. A company delivering technology  solutions. They offer 3 12-month industrial programmes: Business, Finance and Technical. In the later role, you could be working as a support analyst, be based within the technical architecture teams, or take on the role of Test Analyst. The Business roles are varied, with opportunities in areas such as Project Management, Business Controls and Resource Management. The finance roles can be based in a number of different disciplines, so you could be working for an internal CSC team, or on a client project.
  • Imagination Technologies (6 months & 12 months. Hardware & software engineering teams)
  • Intel. They offer a 13 month industrial placement scheme aimed at engineering, science or business students. Opportunities exist within Marketing, Sales, Finance, Business Operations, Engineering, Logistics, HR and IT.
  • Delcam (1 year). Software engineer
  • Dialog Semi conductorr. 12 months mostly in engineering field.
  • Fidelity. 36 week technology work placement with this investment manager. You’ll gain an in-depth and far-reaching introduction to a career in financial services technology. The exact nature of your placement will depend on the team you join, but the projects you work on will see you involved in development (C#, .NET or Java), business analysis and business support
  • First Derivatives. Based in Ireland - they provide software and trading technology and data to the capital markets industry. They offer a campus ambassador programme.
  • Fujitsu (1 year). a range of roles available including IT Operations, Business Management, Marketing, Procurement, Sales, and project management.
  • JP Morgan Technology: 6 or 12 month placement as either an application developer, infrastructure engineer or business systems analyst. Internshop also available in Operations and Business Services. 
  • GCHQ They offer a number of 51 week technology placements for people who are studying relevant degree subjects such as Computer Science, Electronics, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Assurance, Information Security, Physics, Software Engineering or Telecommunications.
  • GE (12 months): Available throught the UK and cover every functinal area.  
  • GIST. Logistics company. 1 year placement in operational management, consultancy or HR. You need to be flexible on location. 
  • Goldman Sachs (12 months). In Technology or Operations, Research, Finance, Internal Audit, Human Capital Management. Offered in one of their European offices - you need to speak the local language. 
  • HP (12 months). All disciplines  -IT, R&D, Business, HR, Services and Sales.
  • HSBC. 1 year industrial placement in global banking and markets technology.  This one-year programme, beginning in June, offers the opportunity to enhance skills and gain the experience needed to excel at HSBC as a Business Analyst, Project Manager, Developer, Architect or Tester. This means building expertise in technology architecture and operational processes
  • Lockheed Martin. They are a leader in systems integration, working on major programmes spanning the aerospace, defence and civil sectors. They offer 12 month placements for software engineers, system engineers, support engineers, finance, business development & communications, procurement  and programme office.
  • Mars: 12 month placements available. You'll have the opportunity to focus on a number of functional areas. These could include R&D, IT, Food Science, Marketing and Sales roles.
  • Microsoft (1 year). They offer 11 internship programmes including project management & business consulting,  business operations, data analyst, finance, game production, art design & user research, HR & citizenship, journalism and editorial support PR & internal comms, software development & technical consulting, marketing and sales. Internships are available in Reading, London, Twycross, Edinburgh and Guildford.
  • Morgan Stanley Technology. 52 weeks in London or Glasgow in Development or Infrastructure. You need to be studying computer science, computer or electrical engineering, maths, physics or a technology/science related degree and have the foundations of at least one programming language.
  • National Instruments. They offer a 1 year engineering leadership programme. The role allows you to gain full training on many aspects of engineering and business offering technical, challenging and varied work with customers and NI teams. You need to be studying Electronic, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related fields.They also offer a marketing placement.
  • NATS (air traffic control): They offer a arnge of placements including an engineering placement scheme, operational analysis, project management, supply chain, training & simulation, saftey performance and business development. 
  • Nomura. (12 months). Industrial Placement IT Programme.
  • Ocado Technology. 12, 6 and 3 month placements. You need to be studying a computer science or joint maths & computing degree and have maths and physics at A Level. They architect and build the technology solutions that power Ocado, the world's largest online-only grocery retailer.
  • Oracle various internships in Spain and The Netherlands
  • P&G: They offer a variety of 6-12 month placements, including a 6 month finance placement in Ireland, 1 year in Information & decision Solutions in Newcastle, and an R&D placment for a scientist/engineer.
  • Schroders. This investment management firm offers a year long placement in the technology division. You will join one of two innovative teams – Distribution Data Technology or Development/Software Engineering where you will get your hands on the latest systems, applications and platforms and help to solve problems and create high-quality solutions for clients. In Development/Software Engineering you will help manage all digital technologies, make technical changes to support the business and get involved in projects that embrace technologies like AngularJS, .Net Web API, EPiServer and Angular Material Design. 
  • Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). They are keeping the UK at the forefront of international science and tackling key challenges facing global society such as; the environment, energy, climate, biomedical research and global security. STFC support research, innovation and skills within particle physics, astronomy, nuclear physics and space science through UK universities and participation in major international collaborations. They design, build, operate and exploit world leading large scale facilities in the UK and enable access to international facilities. Students can work for 12 months at either the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (Oxfordshire), Daresbury Laboratory (Warrington) or the STFC Headquarters Swindon as part of their sandwich course.
  • Telefonica. Their brands are O2 in Europe, Vivo in Brazil and Movistar in Spain and Latin America. They offer a year long industrial placement. A wide range of roles from data analytics, marketing, sales, digital, finance and technology.
  • Thales group (3-12 months)
  • UBS. (6-12 months in IT). 
  • Virgin Media. 12 month intern schemes offered in engineering and field operations as well as other commercial schemes with this telecommunications company. Based in Hook.
